Wedding Week Guest Posts: Jen

July 12, 2012

While I’m out enjoying spending time with my family (both new and old) during our wedding extravaganza, my wonderful blog friends have offered up their love and are helping me keep the blog alive! Today, Jen from WhyCLE lets us in on all the great summer fests in the Cleveland area. Summer festivals are probably the best part about summer (ahem, Brandon and I are going to not one, but TWO music festivals for our honeymoon!) It’s great to know there is so much right here in our backyard. Thanks, Jen…and congrats on becoming MRS. ROME!

Summer Festival Fun

Hi, PLB readers! I’m Jen from Why CLE? I write about all the things I love about Cleveland. I was so honored when Becca asked me to guest post while she and Brandon are off getting hitched and honeymooned. I just got married at the beginning of June, so by the time my husband and I got home from the honeymoon, it felt like half the summer had gone by! But there’s still a lot of time and lots of fun to be had in Cleveland.

One of my favorite parts of summer in CLE is all the festivals that take place around town. There’s always tons of food and fun to be had! Here are some great upcoming festivals to check out:

July 13-15 – Cain Park Arts Festival

More than 150 artists, live entertainment, food, and a $10 wine tasting on Friday night

Admission is free on Friday and only $5 on Saturday and Sunday for anyone (children under 12 are free)

July 20-22 – Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival

Irish dancing and music, Irish plays, an Irish coffee house, a children’s area with petting zoo, Irish crafts, an Irish dog show, an outdoor Mass on Sunday, food and beer galore

Admission is $10 for adults and free for children

July 21 – Willoughby Arts Fest

Tons on vendors with lots of great original artwork

Admission is free

July 21-22 – Burning River Fest

Live music, a petting zoo, Whole Foods “Art on Wheels,” a corporate boat float, and plenty of delicious food and Great Lakes Brewing Company beer

Admission is $8 for one day or $15 for the weekend and all proceeds benefit the Burning River Foundation committed to sustainable waterways (a note from Becca: I reeeeaaalllyyy want to go to this. I hear they have Christmas (Ale) in July. Who’s in?)

July 27-28 – Cleveland Wine Festival

Over 270 wines, cooking demonstrations, gourmet food, and live music, all with a great view of Cleveland

Admission is $28 in advance and $35 at the door

August 15-18 – The Feast of the Assumption

Entertainment, more Italian food than you can imagine, and usually Jell-O shots behind La Dolce Vida

Admission is free

For even more festival fun, check out Ohio Festivals for a complete list and reviews of festivals canvassing the state. Hope to see you out and about at a fun summer festival soon!
